Why I’m Running
Clean water, healthy soil, and thriving natural spaces are the foundation of a strong community. I believe conservation is about protecting the places that make Wake County special while ensuring future generations have the resources they need to thrive.
As Wake County continues to grow, we face increasing challenges from development, stormwater impacts, and pressure on our natural systems. My work protecting North Carolina’s waterways has shown me that thoughtful planning, community partnerships, and science-based solutions can help us meet these challenges.
By supporting conservation programs, strengthening collaboration, and investing in responsible stewardship, we can protect our water resources, support our landowners, and build a more resilient Wake County.

Meet Samantha Krop
About Samantha
Samantha has spent her career bringing people together to protect clean water and healthy communities. As an environmental advocate, educator, coalition builder, and mom, she is committed to making sure Wake County remains a place where our communities and nature resources thrive.
Samantha has over a decade experience working alongside residents, farmers, scientists, and local leaders to protect clean water, conserve forests, and find practical solutions to environmental challenges. With a Master's degree in Education, she believes that lasting conservation begins with informed communities and strong partnerships.
Priorities
Clean, Accessible Water
Clean water is essential to our health, economy, and quality of life, yet Wake County faces a future of water insecurity. Prolonged drought, a rapidly growing population, and increasing pressure on our drinking water supplies make our water future uncertain. This is why it is more important than ever to protect the rivers, streams, lakes, and groundwater we depend on. Meeting these challenges will require reducing pollution at its source, planning growth with our watersheds in mind, and working with nature to protect the water resources that sustain us all.
Climate Resilience
Wake County is already experiencing the impacts of a changing climate—from prolonged drought and increasingly intense rainfall that causes dangerous flooding to rising temperatures fueled by the loss of forests and tree canopy. These challenges threaten our drinking water, farms, infrastructure, and public health. We must act now to invest in protecting resilient landscapes and advancing nature-based solutions that protect people, strengthen our local economy, and prepare Wake County for the future.
Educate and Empower
Building a more resilient Wake County starts with an informed and engaged community. This is why education is a vital role of a Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor.
By expanding environmental education and advocacy, we can help residents understand the ongoing challenges facing our soil and water resources while empowering them to be part of lasting, community-driven solutions.
Invest in Impacted Communities
The burdens of flooding, pollution, failing infrastructure and environmental degradation have too often fallen hardest on communities with the fewest resources. These challenges have disproportionately affected neighborhoods across race and income, leaving many families more vulnerable to flooding, poor water quality, and the loss of natural spaces. To address environmental injustice, we must invest in protecting and restoring the natural infrastructure, streams, wetlands, and floodplains that help safeguard all of us.
